DULWICH HILL
FILM FESTIVAL
At the GLADSTONE Hotel
Cnr Marrickville and New Canterbury Roads
Dulwich Hill 2203
MONDAY NOVEMBER 6th
From Dusk Until Eleven and its free
We’re starting off monthly and we intend to show you films made by real people with no money who do it just for the love of doing it. We’re not giving away prizes or taking non-refundable entrance fees without any intention of showing your film. No. Up on the Hill we do stuff differently. We have a screen and a video projector and the pub has beer and a bistro. You can eat, drink, meet new people or just watch the films.
To kick off our first night, we have a diverse selection of short films chosen utterly randomly for your entertainment and education. Sublime or ridiculous? Who can say? It is going to be a whole lot more entertaining than the crap they are chucking out on television. I don’t even need to see a program guide to tell you that.
The night climaxes with a screening of locally made feature “Shadow’s Never Die” fresh from its showings in London and Edinburgh. Aging punk rock dinosaur Arizona Ryder and his band The Sea Hunts are having trouble with the recording company. These corporate slime bags are looking for something a little more commercial and Arizona delivers with the kind of chair shot that would make anybody’s ears burn. The record company stooge retaliates by seeking out a witch doctor who sets an evil djinn off to condemn the band to a hideous hell world. Can sloth, indolence and poor personal hygiene defeat the forces of evil? Here is your chance to find out. This fabulously accurate depiction of the music industry is directed by rock and roll war veteran Bob Short so you’d think he’d know about these things. Unfortunately, he seems to have spent many years in a state of intoxication so his memories may be unclear.
Do you have a film you want to show? Bring a copy on the night so we can schedule it for next time!

Apart from the feature, we have a couple of shorts from Hendrix/Fish team (who have a feature released through Troma called BloodSpit). We have a film called "Amanda Bitchcock" about a barbie doll newsreader who turns into a whip wielding superheroine who does terrible things to John Howard (played by a Mister Potato Head).
We have a exsistential western set in the Western Suburbs plus some docos and music clips... with more to be announced as they come through my letterbox.
